Show AllSalleri Everest Base Camp trekking is not new route but it is new access to Everest region trekking. Salleri is the administrative centre for Everest region, which falls in the Eastern Nepal. And while trekking to Everest Base camp via Jiri the Salleri is nearby from Ringmo (3 hrs walk).Before road connection to Salleri from Kathmandu, Phaplu -Everest Base Camp trekking was possible only by flying to Phaplu somehow the weather uncertainty always made this trek unreliable. And now the alternatives of flying to Phaplu and Lukla have been possible with the opening of the direct road connection to Salleri a district headquarter of Solukhumbu. Salleri is located 20 minutes on foot distance from Phaplu.The direct jeep riding of 9/10 hours connects you to Salleri from Kathmandu and the trek starts from Salleri and ends at Lukla or vice versa. If you start trekking at Lukla and ends at Salleri/ Phaplu so that to minimize the risk of bad weather to miss your international flight, for that you have to trek another 3 days down to Salleri and catch a jeep to Kathmandu.
Everest base camp trekking is very famous for all adventure trekkers and nature lovers but not everybody is making this trip due to altitude sickness or expensive airfare to Lukla and bad weather at Lukla,each year around the peak season the weather gets sudden change and many trekkers divert to other trekking routes. So Salleri-Phaplu Everest base camp trekking route has been a good alternative of direct flying to Lukla.So by taking a jeep ride to Salleri from Kathmandu facilitated to the trekkers to continue the long planned Everest base Camp and Everest region trekking with less worry. Pattale is a view point located at the height of 3200m which is approximately 1.5 hours before Salleri. Accommodations
Accommodation in Kathmandu, 2 nights before trekking to Everest Base Camp and 2 nights after the trekking at 3-star hotel, Nirvana Garden or another hotel of similar category in Kathmandu. During trekking, you will spend 11 nights at standard tea houses. All accommodations for Everest Base Camp Trek are on twin sharing basis. However, single rooms can be made available on request and by paying a single supplement USD 250. However, bear in mind that there are several places that do not allow single accommodations in the Everest Region for i.e. Tengboche, Gorakshep and some other places.
Meals
During your Salleri Everest Base Camp trekking you can enjoy Nepali food as well as all types of international cuisine (Tibetan, Indian, continental) and also local Sherpa dishes. You can have pizza, Dalbhat ( Nepali set) chips, bread,soup, pasta with verities of drinks hot chocolate, milk/ black tea.The breakfast and dinner is served from the tea house menu where you spent the night. Best Season
Autumn (Sept to Nov) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Everest Base Camp Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. Winter (Dec to Feb) is also good for Everest Base Camp Trek, only issue is cold (obviously). Trekking in summer or Monsoon (June to Aug) will be affected by rain but summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist.

Everest base camp trekking via Salleri start at low altitude, not only the altitude but also you can explore a lot many things while trekking from Salleri. If you can spare few more days from the stated itinerary you can hike to Ratnange Danda (3350m) Which offers beautiful view of Mt. Everest, Mehra peak, Kanchanjunga Himal, Numbur Himal and many other mountains from the Everest region. And If you climb little higher to Kemje Danda 3600m an excellent view of mountain ranges and a complete peace is an incredible things. Both of these hiking is possible in one day from Phaplu or from Salleri.
And there are renown monasteries located around Salleri, to name some of them are Chyalsa Gumba, Chiwang Gumba and Thopten Choling Gumba. Among them the Thopten Choling Gumba is the most popular in the region. The reincarnated monk resides in the monastery. The monastery is located near Junbensi. And it is 1 day trekking from Salleri. And this is also reachable while trekking from Jiri Everest base camp route. While trekking to Everest base camp from Salleri, you start trekking at 2300m which is almost 500 m lower altitude than directly flying to Lukla, which makes huge difference on acclimatization process. And on the other hand you can minimize risk of bad weather and diverting your Everest base camp trekking to other region. Because while doing Salleri Everest base camp trekking, you will take a 10/11 hrs jeep ride to Salleri from Kathmandu which avoids bad weather of flying to Lukla.
While trekking to Everest base camp from Salleri it covers the route of lower Everest region and it provides opportunity of observing different ethnic group of peoples culture, customs and livelihood. If you want to explore around Salleri before walking to Everest base camp you can hike to Ratnange Danda which is the best view point located at 3200m, where from you can see Mt. Everest, Mehra peak, Mt. Numbur, Mt. Makalu and the sothern valley of Nepal. If you travel to Salleri by private Jeep then you can stop at Pattale ( 1 hr before Salleri) and walk up to Pattale danda for excellent view around the Salleri. Pattale also provides best view of mountain to the north and local villages and terain in the south. Mt. Everest and other mountains from the Everest region looks magnificient, though they are bit far in the horizon.
